My relationship with my dad was really similar to what Ray had with his dad. I had a lot of resentment towards him. Baseball was more of a chore and something I hated doing with him because of the way he acted if I didn't throw the ball the right way or get in front of the grounder in time. He would throw that ball at my head and really put me down and make me feel so small. I have re-watched this movie in the different stages of my life, when I was a child, then in my twenties and now as a man with a family of my own. My own heaven. It's until now I understand why my dad did the things he did and to have compassion and understanding for him of how his life didn't work out the way he planned. I am lucky that I don't have to build a stadium to see him and forgive him. I love my father and I am happy he can see what I have accomplished. I think the next time I see him, I'll ask if he wants to have a catch.

This came out five years after my Dad passed away. This scene will always choke me up. He played softball every summer. He would’ve loved this movie. I still have his old ball glove. I need to go visit this place. It’s about five hours from where I live. I miss those days of playing catch with him and my Grandpa! A father and son playing catch. Doesn’t get any better than that nor does it get any more American!❤. God bless!

Jesse Owen said he was treated worse in America than the Third Reich and that is FDR, not Adolf…. “Hitler did not snub me, it was FDR who snubbed me”. Roosevelt never publicly acknowledged Owens's triumphs-or the triumphs of any of the 18 African Americans who competed at the Berlin Olympics

For me, the line, "is this heaven?" "It's Iowa". Always makes me tear up. I lived in Iowa for five years. I was a segment producer for a local television show in Des Moines Iowa. Through that, I had a chance to drive all over the state and do stories about the people of Iowa. I also remember realizing that you didn't have to have mountains or oceans or forest or huge cities to be a magical place. I remember standing on the edge of a cornfield as a thunderstorm moved in in the distance. I remember the sky and how it was as rich and amazing as any SEEN I'VE SEEN. 1985. I MOVED BACK TO CALIFORNIA AND THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. I'VE NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT MOVING BACK TO IOWA, POLITICALLY. I DON'T THINK I'D FIT IN ANYMORE. BUT, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE MEMORIES OF JUST HOW MAGICAL THE PLACE COULD BE.

They were so good, I didn't even watch the final in '69 or '70. In '74, we knew State had a better team. They just had to believe it themselves. Norm Sloan knew it full well. David Thompson was a once in a lifetime player, and Burleson and Towe were perfect complimentary players, along with MO Rivers and Tim Stoddard. In '72 they annihilated teams, but were on probation as undefeated.

SALARY AT THE TIME WHEN IT WAS A POOR SCHOOL .(HE COULD HAVE ACCEPTED A MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT WITH THE LAKERS BUT INSTEAD DID WHAT HE WANTED TO DO ) . WALTON , WHO AT PORTLAND HAD THE ENTIRE ADVERTISING INDUSTRY IN THE NATION ENCROACHING ON HIS FAME , & DID MORE TO PROMOTE THE GAME , A ZILLION TIMES MORE THAN PETE MARAVICH DID YET MARAVICH WAS WHY ALL TH E NBA SALARIES WERE RAISED.--BILL WQALTON ONLY HAD $20 MILLION . EVEN MICHEAL JORDAN HAS BILLIONS . IF I WERE TO ACCEPT #21 BILLION I WOULD LEAVE IT TOALL OF MY WIVES & CHILDREN AS A FAITHFUL POLYGAMIST . WHEN YOU CAN JUSTIFY A $TRILLION FROM THIIS IGNORANT CESSPOOL OF A 'NATION & IT'S 'MASSIVE' DEGRADATIONAL CONSPIRACY , HAVE THE MATURITY TO ACCEP-T &21 BILLION INSTEAD . THE WORLD COULD NOT SUSTAIN ANOTHER PIG SHIT BIG MONEY ANY MORE . BUT , ALSO DISTRIBUTE IT TO Y9U WIVES & CHILDREN BEFORE YOU DIE . DO THIS MYSELF RATHER THAN LIE ABOUT DOING IT JUST TO PRETEND TO BE POPULAR FOR THE FALSE PROMISE SO ONE CAN ROB THE PEOPLE EVEN MORE .......

Just when you thought the Griswolds would finally have their big day at Wally World… 1:28 Fate dropped that *bomb* on them. A road trip from the Windy City (Chicago) to the City of Angels (L. A.), a family fun plan concocted by Clark, a few mishaps and accidents, a sudden death in Ellen’s family, and yet, when they finally made it, the powers that be just up and decided to close the park for a couple of weeks for maintenance. Everything was all for absolutely naught (aka nothing).

Not quite up there with the women’s 800m record, but definitely up there with Flo Jo’s records as among the most dubious going. Didn’t get close to this again after the anti doping regulations were tightened. Did you know that 50% of the winners at the 1988 olympics would have still won in the 2008 olympics 20 years later? All track and field performance suddenly hit a wall after they brought in stricter measures.

Everyone is making one big mistake... it was LYNDON JOHNSON'S WAR, NOT NIXONS WAR. People have their heads buried in the sand about this little fact. LBJ started /escalated this war to line his pockets with corrupt financial payments from the military industrial complex which Gen. Eisenhower warned us about . LBJ and his naive Secretary of Defense Robt. McNamara caused so much pain and misery for the American people . McNamara wrote a book before his death in which he apologized to the families of the brave men and women of our military. The corrupt LBJ never apologized !!!!!!
